Mr.G. Suresh Babu, retired as Deputy Legal Advisor in the Enforcement Directorate in Chennai in January 2021 after 35 years of service. An alumnus of Guru Nanak College and Madras Law College, Suresh Babu joined the Enforcement Department as an Assistant Enforcement Officer in 1986 and took part in sensitive investigations. He worked as an Intelligence Officer in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and as Deputy Development Commissioner at MEPZ on deputation. During 2015, he participated in a seminar 'Combating money laundering in formal and informal economy' held in Colombo which was organised by United States Department of Justice, Counter Terrorism Bureau, Department of State. Suresh Babu played an active role in organising and conducting the 14th Asia Pacific annual meeting on money laundering in 2011 in Kochi involving more than 320 participants from 41-member jurisdictions. Suresh Babu actively defended the cases for the department till his retirement.

Mr.S. Rajagopalan

Shri. S. Rajagopalan, an alumnus of Jamal Mohammed College, Trichy and the Madurai Law College in Tamilnadu, joined the Department of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Central Excise in 1985. Shri. Rajagopalan has served the department in various domains including Customs, Special Economic Zone formation and Goods & Services Tax. He traversed the ladder of positions through levels of Superintendent in 2002 to Assistant Commissioner in 2017. Retired as Assistant Commissioner in 2023, after serving for more than 37 years in the Customs and GST department, Shri. Rajagopalan has in-depth working knowledge in compliance nuances and profound insight into application of legal provisions in Acts relating to Central Excise, Customs, Service tax, Special economic zone and the Goods and Services Tax.

He has arranged and participated in several interactive programs with the trade and Industry and was instrumental in making policy related suggestions for improving compliance. He has been a regular faculty in the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics for more than a decade and has a passion for disseminating knowledge to the younger generation as his contribution to the society. He served in the Academy as Assistant Director and conducted training programs for officers.

SUNDARAM SANKARANARAYANAN

Sundaram Sanakaranarayanan is a Management Professional with about 42 years of experience in Corporate Sector and Management Consultancy. He is a graduate in Science and a Post Graduate in Management. He holds PG Diploma in Industrial Engineering and in Financial Accounting.

He has served in Corporate Sector for about 25 years, in Corporate and Project Management and has served in various industries like General Engineering, Textiles, Wind Energy and Conventional Power Projects and Foreign Trade. Having been the Head of Operations, PAN India, in General Engineering, Textile industry and Industrial Projects, he has handled legal matters and is very well exposed to Labour Laws, Property related Civil Laws and Corporate Laws. He has handled industry / business related criminal investigations.

Sundaram is practicing Corporate Consultant for the past about 17 years. His specialty area covers Project Management, creation of Methods & Systems and SOP for new and running organizations including MIS, Business Re-engineering and Domain Support for customised ERPs.
